a) A finesse is an attempt to win a trick with a non-master card after an opponents has played

b) A finesse guarantees a trick whenever the missing master card is with the opponent located to the left of the hand which initiated the finesse

c) A finesse should always be initiated from the weaker hand toward the hand holding a broken sequence

d) Initiating a finesse with an honor will be profitable only when the honor is part of a sequence
