LESSON 28.1: GENERAL RULES FOR CHOOSING THE SUIT TO LEAD

a) Avoid leading a suit partner could have overcalled at the one level but did not

b) An opening lead requests partner to return the suit as soon as possible

c) With a very weak hand against a notrump contract, lead a short suit or a suit headed by a sequence or a near-sequence

d) Usually avoid leading a singleton trump

e) With four or more trumps, lead your longest suit

f) Lead trumps when the opponents have bid three suits and ended up in a fourth
