LESSON 31.3: PASSIVE DEFENSE

a) When practicing passive defense:

  - lead and play trumps as often as possible

  - avoid opening new suits

  - force the hand with long trumps to ruff (usually the declarer)

b) Passive defense should be precticed when the opponents are sacrificing or when the dummy shows a balanced hand
