LESSON 6.1: GENERAL RULES OF REBIDS BY OPENER

a) Opener should limit a minimum hand as soon as possible after partner's unlimited response

b) Partner's first response in a new suit is forcing for one round (opener must rebid)

c) After partner's first response in a new suit, opener should give priority to:

  - supporting partner's suit
  - declaring in notrump
  - bidding a new four-card suit

d) Rebids by opener showing a minimum opening hand:

  - a single raise of partner's suit
  - a notrump declaration at the minimum level
  - a rebid of his original suit at the minimum level
  - a game declaration without jumping

e) Rebids by opener showing an intermediate opening hand:

  - a double raise of partner's suit
  - a jump to game
  - a new suit at the minimum level
  - a jump in his original opening suit

f) Rebids by opener showing a strong opening hand:

  - a jump in a new suit
  - a jump in notrump
