After the 2 lead, the idea is to give your partner a heart ruff and not lose your diamond trick. Two hearts, a heart ruff, a diamond and the presumed A is what you are shooting for.

At trick one, you win the K. If you cash your A at trick two and then give partner a ruff, you lose your diamond trick. declarer wins the diamond return, draws trump ending in dummy, and pitches his losing diamond on dummy's winning heart.
