SUMMARY 13. TWO-CLUB STRONG OPENING

a) General rules of strong openings

 - The two-club strong opening shows three types of hands:

     . 22+ HCP unbalanced hands
     . 8 1/2 or more offensive trick hands
     . 22-24 HCP hands

 - The two-club strong opening is the only forcing opening

 - The two-club strong opener uses his first rebid to specify his holding

     . 2NT shows a 22-24 HCP balanced hand
     . A new suit shows a 5+ card suit

b) General rules of responses to a strong opening

 - Two idamonds is a standard negative response showing an 0-7 HCP hand

 - Any bid in a suit other than two diamonds is a positive response showing an 8+ HCP hand with a 5+ card suit

 - A 2NT response shows a balanced 8+ HCP hand

 - The two-diamond negative response is forcing to 2NT or to 3 of a major

 - A positive response other than two-diamond is forcing to game and invites to slam
